Thanks for Visiting

“The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.” -Jane Austen

I formed The Pen Dwells Editing to help authors and writers of all kinds share their work in the best possible light. As an avid reader and occasional writer, I know the power that words possess and love the idea of a career focused on polishing words. I’ve always had a “passion for the particulars,” or the small details that many find tedious. Need to dig into the 1,000+ page Chicago Manual of Style to verify a comma use? Yes, please! Need to sift through a multi-page document to ensure the consistency of a period in an abbreviation? Send it my way!

Read more about my education and credentials below.

Background & Education

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in public relations, I spent several years in marketing in a corporate setting, developing both writing and editing skills. Since then, I have achieved a Certificate in Editing from the Poynter Institute in conjunction with ACES: The Society for Editing. I have also completed education in specific editing skills through the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA). Specific courses include copyediting for general writing, editing fiction, editing with CMOS, and working with indie authors.
